My Gentle Hanoi
The photo series “My Gentle Hanoi” is dedicated to Hanoi, the city where Ngoc was born and raised. Part 1 of the exhibition was introduced to the public in Paris in 2008, and Part 2 in Hanoi in 2023 — with more parts surely to come. “My Gentle Hanoi” touches viewers’ emotions in very gentle ways. From a flower vase in the corner of a quiet café, to sunlight gradually piercing through the early winter fog; from thorny tree branches and tangled electric wires with public loudspeakers, to the hurried evening buses, the dim streetlights under a summer rain, or the narrow alleys and small streets — all are beloved fragments of Hanoi. And for us, those who love Hanoi for whatever reason, these are the pieces we always long to keep for ourselves, so that each time we gaze upon them, we feel our hearts soften, becoming as gentle as Hanoi itself.
