Pham Tuan Ngoc, born 1982 in Hanoi, is a photographer - artist, a photographic printmaker, an art educator, dedicated to the art of photography. Ngoc started with photography and learnt black and white film and darkroom technique in 2006, when he studied a master degree in Sweden. His commitment with the medium and his visual and aesthetic were formed in the next two years living in Paris.
Ngoc first worked as a professional photographer, shooting editorial and commercial photography for magazines, newspapers and brands; also a photo editor for international magazines; then opened a studio, specialized in black and white portrait photography with hand-processed analog films
and prints.
Ngoc built Noirfoto from early 2017 as the first professionally equipped analog darkroom in Vietnam, where he experiments on chemi-photographic image-making processes, improves his skills on analog printing techniques from the early days of photography history, and practices personal art projects. Ngoc also works as an art educator, sharing his knowledge and experience to the other artists, photographers and students through workshops, art talks and giving guest lectures at art centers and
universities.
